Apple fixes iPhone 15 Pro overheating error

One week after launching iOS 17.0.2, Apple continued to deploy version 17.0.3 to fix overheating errors for iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

Apple confirmed the overheating error on the high-end iPhone 15 duo and said the situation will be fixed with an update. The company confirmed that the reason does not lie in the titanium frame and new processor chip of the iPhone 15 Pro .

On May 10, Apple released iOS 17.0.3 to solve the above problem. In addition to software, the company believes that some third-party applications also overload the A17 Pro chip, leading to heat dissipation problems, such as Instagram, Uber... The company is working with developers to optimize Re-optimize the software that caused the problem.

Previously, WSJ tested and found that the iPhone 15 Pro Max reached a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius during charging, sometimes reaching 45 degrees Celsius. If downloading games using a 5G network, like the game Genshin Impact, the smartphone temperature increased to 50 degrees Celsius. Testing by Android Authority shows that the iPhone 15 Pro compared to the Google Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy S23 Ultra models is 5-10 degrees Celsius hotter when charging, or about 3-7 degrees Celsius when measuring performance.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo then said that the overheating phenomenon could be due to "compromises in the design of the cooling system" and said that Apple could only fix it by reducing processor performance. However, Apple said it has no intention of tweaking the A17 Pro chip, and the titanium and aluminum design on the iPhone 15 Pro actually provides better heat dissipation than the stainless steel frame.

In addition to iOS 17.0.3, iPadOS also has a new update. Both address a kernel vulnerability that could allow an attacker to gain elevated system privileges. The manufacturer said the vulnerability has been exploited on iOS versions 16.6 and earlier.

Previously, Apple also released iOS 17, iOS 17.0.1 and iOS 17.0.2 in less than 10 days to fix security errors and data transfer capabilities. The company is testing the beta version of iOS 17.1, expected to be available at the end of October.
