New research shows that drinking two to three cups of coffee a day can prolong life, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The study was published in the European Journal of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention on September 27. Experts have found that drinking ground coffee, instant coffee and decaffeinated coffee can all significantly reduce mortality from cardiovascular disease, including coronary heart disease, heart failure and ischemic stroke. set.

Specifically, people who drink two to three cups of coffee have a lower risk of disease than people who do not have this habit. Ground coffee reduces the risk of death by 27 percent, decaffeinated coffee reduces the risk of death by 14 percent and instant coffee by 11 percent, the European Heart Association said.

Additionally, drinking two to three cups of ground coffee per day reduced the risk of cardiovascular disease by 20%, instant coffee by 9% and decaffeinated by 6%.

According to Kistler, besides caffeine, coffee contains more than 100 other bioactive ingredients. These active ingredients have the potential to prevent heart disease and reduce the risk of death.

A 2021 analysis in the Journal of the American Heart Association found that coffee drinkers may have a reduced risk of heart failure. Still, Dr. David Kao, medical director at Colorado Center for Individualized Medicine, says more research is needed to clarify this.

"There is still not enough evidence to recommend that people drink more coffee to reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease. Habits are easier to implement than stopping smoking, losing weight or exercising," said Dr. Kao. know.

Many experts recommend drinking coffee in moderation, noting some of the bad effects of coffee on the body such as anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia.
