Choose the right postures: People with sciatica should not choose positions that require a lot of strength in the back to limit pain and discomfort.

Keep your mind relaxed : Patients should get enough rest, limit stress, and should not have sex while suffering from acute pain.

Apply hot or cold compress: When people with sciatica apply heat, high temperature will reduce muscle tension and spasms; Increases range of motion of joints, dilates blood vessels, improves blood and oxygen flow... In contrast, cold compresses help relieve muscle spasms, reduce inflammation, swelling, constrict blood vessels and cause effects numb... thereby effectively reducing pain.

Medication : Both prescription and over-the-counter medications can be used to treat sciatica, including: anti-inflammatory drugs, pain relievers, anticonvulsants...

Gentle stretching exercises help improve sciatica significantly. Patients should discuss with medical professionals to find the right exercise and perform it properly.

Physical therapy : Exercises to strengthen the spine and lower back muscles , abdomen, buttocks, hips; stretching the tendons, muscles are stiff and inflexible; improve overall health....

Lumbar steroid injections are indicated for the purpose of pain relief, so that the patient can easily participate in physical therapy exercises. In addition, this method also helps to diagnose the cause of the pain, thereby identifying the damaged nerves and having the appropriate treatment.

Surgery is considered when symptoms of pain, numbness, weakness in the legs persist or worsen despite previous medical treatment. In addition, the patient may be indicated for surgery if there are problems such as ponytail syndrome, sciatica affecting both legs...
